Deirdre violinDeirdre is a very experienced traditional fiddle player and singer has toured extensively both in Ireland and on the international stage.  Recent highlights include performances with singer, Méav,  at The Sugar Club in Dublin for the launch of Méav's latest CD. She also performed with Méav for the BBC radio programme "Friday Night is Music Night". Other highlights include performing with the Diarmaid Moynihan band at The National Concert Hall, the Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures and the Westport Arts Festival. She has appeared in concerts with Carlos Nunez and The London Lasses. As a member of the critically acclaimed band Calico she performed at many festivals both in Ireland and abroad. International highlights include concerts at The Dranouter Festival (Belgium), The Washington Folk festival (USA), Edmonton Folk Festival (Canada), Sidmouth Folk Festival (UK) and The Tel Aviv Irish Film & Music Festival.

 

As a fiddle player she features on “The Lights of Ranzanico”, the critically acclaimed new recording by Diarmaid and Donncha Moynihan. Her string arrangements also add a beautiful additional dimension to a number of the CD’s instrumental tracks.

 

In the past, Deirdre has performed and recorded with The “Crash Ensemble” as a guest fiddle player on a number of experimental works. She has been invited to give masterclasses in fiddle playing in Ireland, England, Scandinavia and the Isle of Mann.
